It’s always been one of those things that have been hush-hush. BL and ‘yaoi’ are sort of those shameful secrets we hide in the depths of Tumblr, but why? We’re just desperate for representation, even if it’s silly and cheesy. But I have to say, Japan is really starting to up their game in terms of LGBT rep in manga, anime, and media.
