Why Netflix’s Resident Evil Missed the Mark

I love Resident Evil. I’m a huge fan. But Netflix has made some dumbass choices that I just can’t get behind. Nostalgia is a powerful force, but where do you draw the line?

Look, I love Resident Evil—I own all the games, some in multiple forms—but the Netflix live-action show? Hard pass. It’s not even Resident Evil; it’s just a random show wearing a poorly-fitted Resi mask, hoping fans won’t notice. Spoiler: we noticed.

Hollywood is addicted to nostalgia-fueled cash grabs, slapping beloved franchises on barely recognizable stories while proudly ignoring the source material. And honestly, I’m tired. Creativity is out, reboots are in, and I keep putting off watching actual new things because I’m drowning in recycled content. At this point, I’d rather replay Resident Evil 4 for the hundredth time than subject myself to another soulless adaptation.
